Different artificial green wall panels will be made from different materials but the majority of products are made from polyethylene. Some others may be made from silk, or something else entirely. Some may also consider things like moss or preserved plants to fall under this category.
Vistafolia is made from polythylene using our own unique formula, developed by our in-house R&D team. The actual make-up of this formula is constantly being reviewed and enhanced.
It’s worth noting that if you’re looking to install a green wall outside then steer clear of silk, as this material is not compatible with UV inhibitors and so will start to fade quickly.

Yes, our trees are UV-tested and suitable for outdoor environments. However, as with any artificial product, we recommend taking precautions during extreme weather—such as storms, frost, snow, or excessive heat—to help preserve their appearance. For most installations, we would strongly recommend using our fixing system. It has been specifically designed to hold your artificial plant wall in place and tested to ensure longevity, including testing to hurricane-level winds.

Vistafolia Artificial Green Walls require very little to no maintenance. That’s the benefit of an artificial green wall.
Living walls require ongoing watering and maintenance over time due to growth and seasonal changes. This can leave with a pretty hefty bill that you cannot get away from and no matter how well the wall is looked after you may find that it simply fails eventually. We regularly replace walls that have failed, either because they weren’t suited to the conditions, haven’t been looked after properly, or because the irrigation system has stopped working.
By contrast, because Vistafolia’s panels and designed and developed to last, all that they need is the occasional dusting if your wall is internal, or for external installations, a light hose down just to get rid of any wind borne debris over the years.

No, we don’t recommend using a jetwash on our green plant walls. High velocity water may damage the foliage and cause some plants to come loose. We instead would recommend using just a standard hose at an absolute maximum of 300psi to keep your green wall looking its best. It really depends on the specific installation. We provide a warranty on our product for 5-years, which is longer than any other company on the market, but this doesn’t mean it’s going to start falling apart and losing it’s colour when 5 years are up. In many cases we’ve seen our products last well past 10 years without them needing to be replaced, even in full sun conditions and in countries much warmer than the UK. Many low-quality products may only last a year or two before they start to fade and crack, and that’s why we always recommend choosing a tried and tested product.
Yes, Vistafolia Panels can. Our green walls have been freeze/thaw tested. That means they’ve been through a cycle of freezing and thawing over and over again to see whether they start to crack or fall apart. We passed with flying colours, which means that even in the coldest conditions there should be no change in performance. Very few products on the market can evidence this sort of testing, which ultimately means that Vistafolia green walls are the product to go if you’re installing in cold outdoor environments.
Yes, they can. We often see small insects on our leaves, as well as lots of other small animals like spiders. They won’t harm the wall in any way and if anything, this just makes for an even more realistic artificial green wall.
Yes. It’s highly unusual for our panels to suffer any damage, but should something happen then we can replace like for like, but we may also be able to repair the affected areas. Our plant panels feature a stainless steel grid with individual stems, meaning adding foliage is very easy. On plastic-backed products, once the connection is damaged it cannot be repaired.

The type and frequency of cleaning will differ as it depends on the environment.
We recommend around two or three times a year for outdoor use, with a light hosing just to keep them free of dust and dirt. Rain is generally quite a good cleaner!

Yes. Vistafolia’s replica green plants walls are tested for harmful chemicals and as such as perfectly safe to use near water. Most artificial green walls do not have any certification to prove that they’ve been tested for this and so we would recommend avoiding any that haven’t been tested for your own safety. Some manufacturers also spray their walls with chemicals after manufacturing to help with UV or fire performance. Exposing them to pool water could cause a chemical reaction. All of the technology that goes into Vistafolia’s green walls is within the chemical make up of the plants, so it won’t simply wash off and will stay working for years to come.
Yes. Vistafolia comes with a world-leading 5-year warranty for complete protection. All of the key attributes of our products are inherent in the material and won’t simply wash off if they get damp. Plus, a little bit of moisture on the leaves only serves to make them look even more realistic!
Some products may spray their products with things designed to help them perform better. Humid environments will only serve to remove these extra layers and leave them vulnerable to things like UV degradation and fire.

Believe it or not, yes. You might think not, but we regularly install onto lots of different surfaces, including glass. For this, we’d usually use a specialist adhesive to bond a timber frame first without damaging the glass. Our Vistafolia Artificial Living Walls are fully UV (Ultraviolet) tested and certified and therefore are able to sustain UV radiation in even the warmest environments. All testing is done independently and is certified to ISO standards.
We are the market leaders when it comes to the durability of UV within our green walls. UV radiation is the energy produced by the sun that, though invisible to the human eye, can have damaging effects on certain plastics. Other products don’t have the same UV certifications as Vistafolia and therefore their products aren’t as UV stable as ours. Additionally, the vast majority cannot evidence any form of testing certification. UV degredation is cumulative so sadly it does not simply come and go. Don’t worry though, UV radiation does not cause any harmful damage to our replica living walls and that’s why we warranty them for 5 years, longer than any other product on the market, even in full sun conditions. Choosing an inferior product may lead to quick fading, leaving with a green wall that simply doesn’t look good.
Sadly no artificial living wall on the market is fireproof. However, Vistafolia’s artificial living wall is fire retardant which is an important distinction. This means that the wall does not contain any properties that aid in the spread of fire and thus are perfectly safe to use, even in commercial settings. We test to the highest standards on the market to ensure all of our products are suitable for any environment.
If you’re shopping around, make sure to ask the supplier for a copy of their test certification as some may not have tested at all, or may provide evidence that is not relevant to the product. Some may also spray their green walls with a fire retardant spray. We strongly advise against this as performance is inconsistent and only as good as the spray application itself. They are also prone to washing off and many fire officers will not accept them as a substitute for the inherent fire retardancy that Vistafolia products have.
They can be, but not all products are, and it is very important to check if the green wall you are considering has the relevant certifications. Just because a company claims their products are fire retardant doesn’t mean they have been tested to the correct standard.
Vistafolia’s Artificial Living walls are fire retardant however. This means that it does not contain any properties that aid in the spreading of fire. However, a lot of manufacturers of green walls claim that their product is fire retardant but do not have any certifications to confirm that, or have certifications that are not relevant to the intended use of the product.

A class O certification is not relevant to an artificial plant product. However, Vistafolia Artificial Living wall panels are tested against BS EN 13501-1 which is the European Fire Classification. This is equivalent to Class O against BS 476.
Vistafolia’s Artificial Living Wall panels are the only panels on the market that are UV and Fire Retardant with independent test certificates to match. This means that there are no properties in our artificial living walls that aid in the spread of fire.

Anything is UV stable for a certain amount of time, whether that be days, weeks or even years. The vast majority of products do not have any certifcation to prove that they have been tested.
However, Vistafolia’s artificial living walls are UV stable and have undertaken vigorous testing to high irradiance levels to ensure that it is the most UV stable on the market. Therefore, this means that Vistafolia’s artificial green walls are the strongest in the market when it comes to battling against the Sun’s radiation.
Other competitors will tell you that they are UV stable but aren’t actually certified and thus you cannot be sure of what you are buying. Vistafolia are the only provider of artificial living walls with both UV and Fire retardant certifications.

Vistafolia artificial walls comply with REACH, RoHS, and Prop 65 for reportable levels of chemicals of high concern. This means that the wall does not give off any polluting fumes and are perfectly suitable to use within a household or a populated environment.
Therefore, the wall is completely safe when attached/fixed correctly to the wall with our specialised and innovative fixings. As real as it looks, please do not attempt to eat it. It’s not as healthy for you as real plants.
Yes. Vistafolia’s living walls are recyclable but it is a specialist process and cannot just be popped into a recycling bin.
Our Artificial Green Walls can be recycled and re-purposed for a different means, meaning that nothing should ever end up in landfill. Additionally, because of the long lifespan of Vistafolia products, the need to recycle them is minimal as they should stay looking their best for a very long time.

The time it takes for you to receive your Vistafolia order depends on a few different variables. Shipping may be as fast as next day delivery for a few panels but larger orders may take slightly longer. The ease of access to the location may also affect timescale eg. distance from distributor, living in a rural environment with little infrastructure etc.

Yes, there is a cost for shipping but the cost is dependent on a few factors:
Location: If you live in a very rural area with little to no infrastructure then shipping cost may be higher due to the difficulties of transportation.
Size of Order: If you order a few panels, then most likely you will get a lower cost for shipping than a larger order which may need to be palletised or sent on a dedicated load.
External Factors: Certain things might just be out of our control. However, we won’t just spring these costs on you last minute.
